MultiChron Pilot
Introduced in 1941
The Pilot, one of Gallet's most popular racing and aviation chronographs, is characterized by its 3 subsidiary registers, rotating 12-hour time zone bezel, and telemeter & tachymeter scales printed on the periphery of the dial. Powered primarily by Gallet's in-house Excelsior Park mechanisms, Valjoux calibre 72 movements were also installed when orders surpassed the company's movement production capabilities.
During the 1970's through the early 1980's, Gallet also released lower priced versions of their Multichron Pilot in an attempt to compete with quartz electronic powered timepieces imported from Asia. These watches were provided solely to the US market, had only 30 minute recording capability, and were driven by more economical Landeron 149 and Valjoux 7733 movements.
